Design that reflects the dignity of lived experience.

YWCA Australia Policy Platform 2026

Outcomes

  • A positive, ambitious design targeting a broad range of audiences

  • Materials that align with and build upon YWCA Australia’s brand identity

  • Design of consistent and cohesive support collateral

For over 140 years, YWCA Australia have been working to ensure women and gender-diverse people have access to safe housing, economic security and a life free from violence.

The Safe Homes, Equal Futures Policy Platform 2026 is their roadmap for change. It sets out eight interlocking policy pillars that reposition housing security as a foundation for gender equality, productivity and wellbeing.

It's a document designed to be read by government, sector stakeholders and the young women and gender-diverse people whose futures it's advocating for. That's a lot of audiences and it required a design that could speak to all of them.

The challenge wasn't just visual. The platform needed to communicate complex policy and funding landscapes while also honouring the lived experiences of the people at the centre of this work. It needed to feel sophisticated enough to command respect in ministerial meetings, but warm and personal enough to connect with the communities YWCA serves.

It had to show the issues clearly, while also reflecting the dignity and success that can come from the right investments and policy decisions.

So I worked closely with the team to develop a design approach that balanced both. A system flexible enough to present detailed policy content with clarity, and visual elements that brought warmth, humanity and connection to every page.

The result is a publication that doesn't just inform, it engages and it invites people in.

“Matt supported YWCA Australia ('YWCA') with the design of our Safe Homes, Equal Futures Policy Platform 2026. This was a multi-faceted piece of work which required designs to reflect policy and funding landscapes, as well as vignettes of the experiences of women and gender-diverse people. This was quite a unique design process, not only showing the issues but the dignity and success that can come to people's lives from the right investments and policy decisions.

Matt's design of the Policy Platform and associated materials were sophisticated but also warm and personable. Through Matt's designs the document is a piece which connects with various audiences from government and decision-makers to sector stakeholders and young women and gender-diverse people. Throughout the process Matt had strong attention to detail, was communicative, and met deadlines. We already have our next project lined up to work with Matt. Thank you, Matt!”
